WHAT IS ASD?

Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD, is a developmental disability that may cause notable challenges in social relations, communication, and behavior.  Although people with ASD often hardly have anything that seems different from others in terms of their looks, people with ASD can interact, communicate, learn, and behave differently from how most other people do.  The intellectual abilities of people with ASD may vary widely.  Also, while some people with ASD may need huge support from others in their daily lives, others may need less.

ASD includes several different conditions: autistic disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), and Asperger syndrome.
